Business IT Transformation Partnership

Shared Services Centers and Business Process Outsourcing are becoming commoditized services. These transformational offerings are effective ways of reducing headcount in non-competitive-situation-improving areas as well as receiving a reliable and predictable service in the respective areas. But for a mid-size company these offerings are often not producing the desired results. But why is that so?

Shared Services offerings as well as BPO scenarios have matured over the past years. The customer can choose from a selection of standardized approaches and can reap immediate benefits by adopting the respective process the vendor offers. However, there lies the catch as the vendor will usually offer a one-size-fits-all approach that is relevant to only the largest of corporations. However, experience shows that a large number of deployments in mid-size companies of between 500M € and 5B € revenue fail due to the inflexibility of such schemes. This is based in the nature of the offerings promising predominantly immediate cost savings while retaining or improving the current service level. This guarantee, however, can only be given if a process is highly standardized and repetitive. Again, this works for large corporations with a strong process governance and strict policies.

But what can the said mid-sized corporation do? We at Reppel & Partners believe in the uniqueness of each company while working on the premise of a standardized and cost effective service offering. This Business IT Transformation Partnership, as we call it, allows mid-size players to enjoy the ultimate promise of a shared services offering, being cost effective with a guaranteed service level, while starting small and learning important lessons on the way, such as

  • What does Service Level Agreement and Service Level Guarantee actually mean?
  • What service level is actually the right one for each individual service?
  • Are we ready and do we have the required organization to operate on a service level basis instead of a fixed employee count?
  • Is our Corporate IT governance model ready so that we can work on a service base?
  • What would be a correct charging and reporting model for such an entity?
  • How can we guarantee the required quality?

Reppel & Partners, having consulted and built such service organizations. offers its Business IT Transformation Partnership comprising of two major components:

  • A Shared Services Center Concept, built upon and addressing the unique make-up of every corporation
  • A ramping/implementation service where R&P is starting up the Shared Services entity on behalf of the client.

Particularly, the second offering allows the client to start with a small initial capital and operational expenditure outlay. This is achieved through a mix of dedicated personnel with the service quality promise of a service organization. Being a unique approach, our clients enjoy immediate benefits, such as:

  • Dedicated Management
  • Central Sourcing
  • Centralized Billing
  • Service Level Agreements
  • Inclusion of existing structures
  • Direct access to resources due to unique approach
  • Extended Access to a pool of experts

Combining consultation focus on business benefits with actual operational experience leads to a clear change management strategy and a predictable way forward for your organization.
